For as long as I can remember, the outdoors have been my playground. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up on the Big Island of Hawai`i, freely exploring nature from forested mountain tops to black sand beaches.
As I grew up, I noticed subtle changes in my environment and, as I studied, I learned that I had more to do with it than I thought. Some of these changes are not so subtle anymore.
I am very worried about the future of our planet and cannot help but feel responsible for its rapid transformation. It is this feeling that has compelled me to create products and art which showcase materials that are otherwise likely destined for a landfill.
In my design process I am still amazed and impressed by so many materials being overlooked and, quite frankly, under-appreciated. It has changed the way I look at everything in the world around me and I hope I am able to spark that same type of change in you.
